DESCRIPTION: from CRETE - Minoan Culture --rhyton vessel (in shape of figure or animal for drinking or pouring liquids on special occasions --made of steatite (soapstone) -- NOT ceramic --carved mural of harvesters marching, singing --figures hold farm implements, & a musical instrument: a "sistrum" (rattle) --has different shape on bottom--ideal for setting in sand --transported in ships: sealed tops and stored stacked in alternating rows right side up and right side down with bottoms "interlocking"
