DESCRIPTION: TRANSITIONAL/EARLY CLASSICAL PERIOD - SEVERE STYLE - by Myron. A real action figure. Marble copy after original bronze. Romans made marble copies of original bronzes but they were lighter weight and needed to be stabilized somehow, so they added a tree trunk or some other thing. The Olympic games were so significant that many Greeks date the beginning of their history as a nation to the first Games in 776BCE.
