TITLE: Discovery - Acrylic on 8 Panels - 15" x 15" x 4" each

DESCRIPTION: An abstracted self-referential work. I have been interested lately in graphic black and white images, squares, deeply cradled boxes, and the intersection of painting and photography. I am attempting to exploit the uniqueness of each medium while celebrating and utilizing the formal aspects of both. So here I am. Squared. Times eight. I expressly built up the surfaces with white paint so the black surfaces would sink down in the picture plane. I used a brush and not a palette knife because I wanted the artist's expressive hand in the work. The boxes stand out 4" from the wall.
