Artists and musicians all came to perform plays and operas: Lully, Moliere, Cornier, Pascal, Racine. Louis was absolute symbol of monarchy, supreme ruler. Louis constantly engaged in warfare, making hardship for his people. He enjoyed RITUALIZED ADULATION which promoted absolute power.
