DESCRIPTION: GENTILESCHI. Woman artist. Didn't use male artist's name as was the practice of many female artists of the day. Father a well known artist, too. Because she was raped by Father's assistant who was never prosecuted, she painted alot of pictures of Judith beheading Gen. Holofernes. Very CARAVESQUE = Caravaggio invented style, with a single light source (orig.called tenebrism - see #16). Another decapitation story (see Caravaggio #28,29)
