TITLE: PAINTING - The Last Supper - HIGH ITALIAN RENAISSANCE

DESCRIPTION: by LEONARDO da Vinci. Fresco. MILAN. Leonardo used different painting vehicle/medium to paint on refectory (dining hall in convent). It was a bad idea, as it flaked off a lot. So much so that today we don't know how much is original vs. patched by others. See Christ saying "One of you shall betray me" to 4 groups of 3 disciples each. Judas is 4th from L w/ bag of money. Architectural interior has vanishing pts. (a la Bruneleschi). Only 1 curved line in pediment over Jesus' head = halo. Piece has scientific pictorialism, mathematically ordered space (a la Alberti) plus humanism, motion & monumentality.
