TITLE: PAINTING - My Gems - 19TH CENTURY

DESCRIPTION: HARNETT. REALISM. As Dutch as you can get. Still life - extreme realism. 2ND KIND OF REALISM = MAGIC (CONCEPTUAL) REALISM = illusionism carried to farthest degree = trompe l'oeil. Very polished, not painterly (painterly=loose brush strokes). Even tho he paints subjects exactly as they appear he edits the composition as he sees fit. Includes details like water stains, torn edges etc. Favored "homey" objects (objects found frequently in homes).
