ETCHING - Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters - ROMANTICISM
GOYA. Spain. ALLEGORY telling fellow Madrid citizens when you let others make decisions for you, monsters occur. Like Hogarth (see Baroque England #14) in that this is CULTURE CRITICISM and it's a series. From a group of ETCHINGS. Public didn't like his work at the time c/o he was too critical of society, esp. in Madrid. GOYA=successful life, traveller, romantic, Libertine (non-rule follower), always depressed c/o he was "a sensitive" affected by what he saw; all his stuff had a moral; went deaf.
